Why is Dubai the city of the coming future?

Understanding that Dubai is the city of the coming future comes even before the plane landed on the way to the city: skyscrapers and palm-shaped artificial islands growing in the middle of the desert look more like a mirage than a reality.

Most of all in this city are five things that many of them seem to be the distant future, and for Dubai it is every day: artificial islands and water bodies, the tallest building in the world, unmanned subways and shopping centers, more like cities.

Artificial islands

The most famous of the three artificial islands of Dubai is the Palm Jumeirah Island, which is a palm tree consisting of a trunk, sixteen leaves and a crescent. On the palm tree are private villas, apartment buildings and hotels. The most famous of them - "Atlantis" - is located in the center of the crescent and is famous for its restaurants and water park. You can get to the palm tree trunk by walking from the metro stations Dubai Internet City or by rent a car.

But you can get to the crescent by a bridge on a monorail, the first station of which (“Gateway Towers”) is located at the very base. There is another option to drive through the underwater tunnel by car. You can get to the crescent on free shuttle buses that depart from many large shopping centers, for example, from Dubai Marina Mall and Mall of the Emirates, but you need to be prepared for the driver to ask you to show the keys he rooms of the hotel, located on the crescent of palm trees.

From the crescent moon opens a panoramic view of Dubai, the apparent dominant of which is the tallest building in the world, the Burj Khalifa. Walking along the promenade of the crescent and looking at the skyscrapers of the center, it is difficult to understand how it is generally possible to build such a structure.

The tallest building in the world

The tallest building in the world - Burj Khalifa - Dubai's business card, without which it is difficult to imagine this city. The skyscraper can be seen from almost any part of the city, and there really is something fascinating about it. This “stalagmite” with a height of 828 meters is located in the very center of Dubai Downtown within walking distance of the metro station of the same name.

There are some numbers : the building has 163 floors, 57 elevators, a spire 180 meters high, and the total cost of the building was more than 4 billion US dollars. Impressive!

There are several observation platforms in the skyscraper: on the 124th, 125th and 148th floors. The cost of lifting starts from 135 dirham (€ 32) for viewing platforms only on the 124th and 125th floors, and from 370 dirham (€ 88) for visiting all three viewing platforms. Buying tickets is available on the official website of the tower . It is most interesting to climb to the top in the evening when another participant of our review turns on - the Pond of Dubai Fountains.

If you don’t really want to spend money, you can explore the Burj Khalifa from the pond area or any other point in the city. For example, there is an option to book a table at the Neos bar and look at the fountain and the skyscraper at the same time.
